Discover Utopia & Utility’s stunning glass vessels

Combining hand-blown glass with timber and metal, Utopia & Utility has a unique aesthetic that has seen it amass a cult following across the globe since the company’s inception in 2012. The brainchild of siblings Pia and Moritz Wustenberg, the brand boasts an enviable group of premium stockists including Liberty, Selfridges and the V&A Museum in London, Bergdorf Goodman and Barneys in New York and YU Interiors here in Perth.

“We believe everything that deserves to be made deserves to be made well. From the process to the finished objects, our motivation is to enrich life through beauty,” says Utopia & Utility’s creative director Pia Wustenberg.

A product designer by trade, Pia graduated from the Royal College of Arts in 2011 and has run her own design studio in East London since. Her brother Moritz wears a completely different hat – while he’s the company’s managing director he is also a qualified biomechanical engineer and has a passion for science and nature that he brings to the brand.

“Whether it’s glass blowers, carpenters, ceramicists, metal spinners or more recently, cork experts, we find the talent that is needed in small, specialised European workshops,” says Pia who works closely with talented makers across Europe to create the textured pieces that usually combine a couple of contrasting materials. Incidentally, most of the brand’s glass is made in Bohemia in the Czech Republic – a region renowned for the craft.

Not only are the Utopia & Utility pieces destined for heirloom status, they are true conversation starters and add a unique finishing touch to any stylish interior. Come and check out the pieces in our showroom – they’re even more beautiful in the flesh.
