YU Interior styling event: One bed four ways

With the onset of winter, there’s no doubt that people tend to spend a lot more time indoors, and specifically in their homes (and beds!). For this reason, we held a series of bed styling workshops recently, where stylist tips and tricks were imparted and we helped our clients create gorgeous sleeping spaces for their homes.

Drawing on her magazine styling background, lifestyle journalist and interior stylist Amy Collins-Walker walked attendees through how to create editorial looks in their homes while giving away useful insider tips. For instance, did you know that stylists always use a quilt that is one size larger than the bed for a draped, more luxurious feel?

Kicking off with the bed styling basics (stay tuned for a future post), we then created four trend-based looks with the same bed: Oversized Moody Floral, Greenery, Coastal and Arctic. Highly interactive, attendees could ask anything they liked and all while nursing a crisp glass of champagne in one hand and some French cheese in the other.

From the importance in investing in quality, neutral basics, to a discussion about texture, colour and throws, the audience loved the insider bed styling tips.

From shapes and sizes to plumping and rotation (who says we don't cover the big issues??), cushions also formed the basis of enthusiastic discussions at the events. It seems that most households are much the same - men and women cannot seem to agree on the number to put on the bed!
